At the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) would greatly value the Colegio de Nutricionistas y Dietistas de Puerto Rico participation in our process to develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Updated every five years, the Dietary Guidelines is relied on by health professionals, policy makers and industries nationwide, and is the cornerstone of Federal food and nutrition programs serving many millions of people in the United States daily.

Yesterday, we announced the opening of a crucial step in the process to develop the upcoming 2025-2030 edition of the Dietary Guidelines: the call for nominations from the public for the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, an independent committee for which we need experts in public health, nutrition science, health equity and more. These are experts who will review the science and provide advice to HHS and USDA for our development of the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines.
